The new Planet Eclipse EGO LV2 in the product test

Also in this issue we have a detailed product test for a brand new product for you. Today we are talking about the EGO LV2 from Planet Eclipse . The first Planet Eclipse EGO markers were groundbreaking at the time and revolutionized the market for high-end paintball markers almost overnight. It is all the more logical that the new Ego LV2 from Planet sets new standards and once again explores the limits of what is possible when it comes to performance and efficiency. But now we don't want to keep you in suspense, but present the new EGO LV2 in beautiful pictures and all the details.

Yes, we only had a Planet Eclipse marker in the product test in the last issue, we know that. BUT… on the one hand, no other manufacturer has presented anything new for what feels like an eternity, and on the other hand, a new EGO LV2 is simply the coolest piece of shit and, in our opinion, should be included here for that reason alone. So we ask for your indulgence and understanding.

So enough of the banter, let's get started… We have the brand new Planet Eclipse EGO LV2 in front of us. At first glance, it looks like the lower part of the CS2 was crossed with the upper part of the old EGO LV1.6. I like that. The LV2 looks very high quality and appealing. When you first pick it up, you immediately notice the really good feel. The marker lies well in the hand and is also easy to hold. The grips, which are already known from the Planet Eclipse CS2 Pro, have a structured surface. This ensures a very good grip and the marker lies securely in the hand. The tool-less design of the grips has also been retained on the LV2, i.e. no tools are required to remove or reassemble the grips. The same applies to the bolt, which can be removed with a flick of the wrist, and the new, modular S63 barrel system. In general, the LV2, like all other planet markers, is very easy to maintain and you can do almost all operations during play without tools. An Allen key is only required to set the FPS on the Chrony.

Planet Eclipse EGO LV2 Paintball Marker

Let's now come to the really interesting and, above all, numerous innovations that the EGO LV2 brings with it. The already mentioned S63 barrel is a multi-part system consisting of the rear part of the barrel (back), the barrel front (tip) and a so-called PWR (PoWeR) sleeve. The PWR sleeves, also called inserts, have the task of adapting the inner diameter of the barrel as perfectly as possible to the paintballs used. They work practically like a freak system. The PWR inserts are currently available in five versions with inner diameters of .677, .681, .685, .689 and .693. There is enough choice to cover almost every paint diameter on the market. The interesting thing about the S63 barrel is its special construction. The sleeves are no longer screwed in the middle between the front and back, but are pushed in from behind and clamped between the marker housing and barrel back when the barrel is screwed in. This saves material, which makes the S63 barrel one of the lightest barrel systems currently on the market.

A lot has also happened inside the marker compared to its predecessor. The LPR and HPR regulator are both housed inside the housing and mounted in a new, unique combination only found on the Planet Eclipse EGO LV2. In addition to saving space, which in turn leads to weight savings and a larger volume chamber, this also ensures a more constant working pressure in the marker. With the LV2, this is an incredibly low 115 PSI, which is an absolute top value. The extremely low working pressure ensures that the LV2 is not only more stable in the hand when shooting, but that the paintballs are also accelerated more evenly. Smoother acceleration means less FPS fluctuations on the Chrony, resulting in a more accurate shot. In general, the EGO markers are among the most accurate paintball markers on the market due to their mechanics, but the LV2 goes a step further here. The built-in Cure FT bolt ensures maximum gentle ball handling, so that even the most brittle types of paint can be fired with the LV2 without any problems in any weather. One reason why so many tournament players have trusted the EGO marker series for years. Other product features include the newly developed SMC solenoid, the eye cover that can be removed without tools, the new MME – Modular Marker Electronic, a Bluetooth interface and a newly designed hard-shell case. In addition, of course, the proven features of the predecessor such as the low-rise clamp feed, the Zick 3 rammer kit with light and heavy rammer (2 rammers included), the leaver valve valve system, the blade trigger and the LV2 is a matter of course, like all current Planet marker models , E-portal compatible. The exact list of features can be found below in the article in the marker details or in the online shop.

Our final conclusion is clear. The Planet Eclipse EGO LV2 is a real, innovative novelty and not just a facelift. Although most of the innovations are invisible to the customer under the surface of the marker, they definitely pack a punch. EGO fans and all players who are looking for a real high-end marker with maximum performance should strike here. At the latest on the field you are 100% convinced of the new EGO LV2. In any case, we are. That was our product test for the brand new Planet Eclipse EGO LV2. We hope you had fun reading and were able to take some helpful information with you. We'll see you again in the next issue when there's a new product to marvel at. Be curious what the manufacturers will present at the World Cup this year.

Product Test: PLANET ECLIPSE GTEK 180R

Welcome to a new product test. At the risk of reporting being monotonous now that we've featured a Planet Eclipse marker several issues in a row, we're doing it again! The new Planet Eclipse GTEK180R is simply worth a detailed report because it once again sets new standards in terms of quality, performance and design in the mid-range price segment. Since it has been on the market for a few weeks, we had enough time to get an idea for ourselves and to test the GTEK180R extensively. Between us, you don't need a CS3 or LV2 anymore, the GTEK180R shoots so well that it completely convinced us. Here's all the info…

The GTEK170R was Planet's midrange marker for several years. A solid model that somehow never really made it onto the market. The big flagships of the Planet Eclipse CS2 and CS2 Pro series were too overwhelming and present. In our opinion, with the GTEK180R this will now change a bit. The new model convinces not only with a very simple but extremely attractive design, but also with its inner values. In terms of performance, the new Planet Eclipse GTEK180r offers almost as much as a CS2 Pro and in some places even a lot more. The completely redesigned OP-R Core bolt system of the GTEK180R is similar to that of the brand new CS3 and is therefore clearly superior to both the bolt of the predecessor model GTEK170R and the CS2 Pro in terms of power, performance and air efficiency. The working pressure is an incredibly low 120 PSI, which is really a house number in the mid-range area. During the test shooting we were really impressed. Not only that even the most brittle paint comes out of the marker intact and without any problems, we also only knew the shot feeling from "real" high-end models. The 180R hardly kicks at all, it is extremely quiet and the trigger is already set so well out of the box that you can easily shoot over everything that comes your way.

The Shaft S63 barrel system, which has been specially adapted for the GTEK180R and also has the PWR inserts that Planet Eclipse has been using in all new marker models since last season, ensures the necessary precision. The PWR sleeves allow the inner diameter of the barrel to be perfectly adapted to the paintballs used. In addition, there are PWR sleeves with different inner diameters to buy later. The principle is similar to that of all other running sets with sleeves, eg the well-known Smart Parts Freak Set. Here you can also save the money for a tuning barrel, the S63 barrel of the GTEK180R already ensures maximum precision ex works.

Other innovations of the GTEK180R include the latest generation of quick-change grips, which can be removed from the marker without tools. In addition, the latest MME board (Modular Marker Electronics Package) and the extremely slim "Purge" Pops On/Off ASA adapter at the bottom of the grip. The proven components from the previous models, such as the extremely constant SL6 inline regulator, the completely tool-free design (eye cover, grip shells, battery compartment, eyes, etc. can be accessed without tools) and various other features (see product details on page 50) round off the package and make this marker a real game changer. With all these features alone, the new Planet Eclipse GTEK180R should always be on the lookout for when looking for a new tournament marker. It doesn't always have to be the very expensive high-end model, because if a mid-range marker delivers such performance data as the GTEK180R, then the air for all other models around it becomes extremely thin. After our test, we're not just fans of the GTEK180R, we're really convinced across the board. With this model, you can go to the start with a good feeling even in the higher leagues without any problems and you will definitely bring home your points. Planet once again delivers across the board. We personally particularly like the look of the marker. The GTEK180R is almost the most beautiful Planet Gun of the current series. Simply because it looks so extremely simple but still sporty and powerful.

So much for our report and conclusion on the new Planet Eclipse GTEK180R. We wish all GTEK180R players a lot of fun with the new model and lots of success on the field.

In this issue we again have a detailed product test on the latest innovations in the magazine. Planet Eclipse had already presented its new CS3 at the US World Cup at the end of last year. After some delays with the approval for the German market, the new high-end flagship from Planet Eclipse has now been available in stores for a few weeks. Reason enough for us to subject this new colored sword to a detailed product test. Let's get started with all the product features and details of the new Planet Eclipse CS3.

Planet Eclipse fans had to wait around three years for the new model of the CS marker series. With the CS3, the latest generation of the Planet Eclipse Spool Valve HighEnd paintball marker series was presented at the Paintball World Cup in Kissimmee, Florida, USA. This means that the old CS2 Pro is officially history as a predecessor model.

As with almost every new generation of markers from Planet Eclipse, the CS3 is also largely a completely new development. At Planet Eclipse you have to differentiate between new marker generations and upgrade versions. The CS1, the first variant of the CS marker series, came onto the market at the time. This was followed by the CS2 and about a year later the CS2 Pro. However, this was only an upgrade of the CS2 and not an independent new development. The situation is similar, e.g. B. the differences between LV1 and LV1.5 or LV1.6 and the recent jump to the brand new platform LV2. But this is just a side note for everyone who may not have been that familiar with the Planet Eclipse marker model series or their model names until now. Let's turn our attention back to the CS3. As already mentioned, the CS3 has been completely redesigned in large parts. It was based on the design of the previous models and it is still a spool valve marker, but that's actually where the similarities end. Inside and especially in terms of performance, Planet Eclipse has once again delivered and sets new standards in terms of performance with the CS3. The entire body has been redesigned and made even slimmer and lighter. The quick release bolt mechanism has been revised and improved again, so that maintenance of the marker is now even easier.

In addition, Planet has revised the frame of the marker. It is larger than all previous models and thus offers significantly more comfortable, ergonomic handling and more freedom of movement. The heart of the Planet Eclipse CS3 is the newly developed OP-Core bolt system, which not only works quieter and noticeably smoother than the previous model CS2, but Planet has also managed to tickle a whole 20% more air efficiency out of the marker. This is made possible by a volume chamber that is approx. 50% larger than its predecessor, which lowers the working pressure of the CS3 to an incredibly low 95-105 PSI (corresponds to approx. 6-7 bar). This leaves the CS3 far behind all previous models. That alone is an absolute selling point for all players who play in so-called "unlimited" series and leagues, but of course for everyone else who simply wants to have the maximum possible performance on the field in their hands. With the CS3 you can simply shoot significantly more paintballs from a tank filling.

The bolt system of the CS3 features the new Cure FT bolt with soft tip. The barrel is the already known from the LV2 S63 barrel system with a length of 14.5 inches. This is delivered with a .689 and a .685 PWR case. Additional sleeves with different diameters can be purchased as accessories in order to be able to adapt the barrel even better to all different paint diameters. Other features such as the FDD (Fully Decouple Drive), the ADD (Auto Dwell Dynamics), the tool-free grip shells and the new Low Profile POPS ASA adapter complete the package and make the new Planet Eclipse CS3 one of the currently best and most powerful paintball tournament markers at all.

Like all Planet Eclipse high-end markers, the CS3 is also delivered in a high-quality and stable aluminum hard-shell case with a zip. Inside you will find the marker, the two-piece barrel with PWR sleeves, a Planet Eclipse Allen key set, a tube of grease, a barrel sock, a spare parts set and the manual for the marker. As always, Planet Eclipse delivers quality at the highest level with the CS3. This marker is already fun to unpack and look at and is 100% convincing on the field at the latest. We have a clear buy recommendation at this point, because you simply can't go wrong with a CS3. She always performs at her best, the rest then depends on the skill of the player.

We wish all Planet fans and soon-to-be CS3 owners a lot of fun with this new high-end device and a successful tournament season.
