We had the honor of attending this year's Planet Eclipse Dealer Day. A major new product had been announced in advance, and we were there to get our hands on the brand-new, previously unreleased Planet Eclipse EMF200 for the first time. Our first impression? We were shocked, in love, and absolutely blown away. This new MagFed marker is so good that we believe it will revolutionize the entire market. Naturally, we took the opportunity to take numerous pictures and gather all the important information, which we present to you today in our comprehensive product review of the new Planet Eclipse EMF200.
Since the introduction of the EMF100, Planet Eclipse has established itself as a major player in the MagFed market. As a manufacturer, they could have sat back and relaxed, but Planet listened to the community and actively responded to players' requests and suggestions for improvement. Now, in February 2025, a truly premium successor was introduced: the EMF200. Unfortunately, we have to take some of the wind out of the sails at this point: As of press time in March 2025, the new model is unlikely to hit the market before June 2025. The originally announced release date of mid- to late May has been postponed again by Planet Eclipse. Furthermore, the first production batch is already overbooked, meaning there are more pre-orders than will be available in the first batch for the European market. So, anyone who wants an EMF200 should pre-order it from a retailer as soon as possible, as deliveries are strictly on a first-come, first-served basis!
What makes the EMF200 so special?
Planet Eclipse has taken a major step with the EMF200, making the new model fully AR-15 compatible. For a long time, the company resisted the real steel look, but ultimately, high demand from the shooting scene tipped the scales. The new model now features an AR-15-like all-metal body and is compatible with original AR-15 components in many areas. These include the shrouds, grips, the safety switch, and the magazine ejector. Inside, the proven bolt technology of the Planet Eclipse GTEK 180R, a high-end tournament marker worth around €1,100, works. This ensures maximum performance that is worlds ahead of all other MagFed markers on the market. The maintenance-friendly design is particularly impressive: The bolt can be removed with just one screw and without tools – even with an airstock buttstock installed. This is made possible by a pre-installed on/off switch that disconnects the air supply from the marker when needed. This system is based on Planet Eclipse's proven PoPs ASA, but has been integrated into a modified cocking lever system. This allows the EMF200 to be pressurized similar to how a real AR-15 is loaded—a cool feature that makes for an even more realistic feel.
The AR-15-compatible grip, which is attached with just one screw, allows for customization to almost any common grip setup. The same applies to the handguard/shroud, which is attached via a barrel groove and is easy to replace. It's important to pay attention to the height of the Weaver rails to ensure the optics fit perfectly. Another highlight is the extremely sensitive trigger, which easily reached 8–10 BPS (balls per second) in our tests. The magazine emptied faster than we could blink. While there's no full-auto mode, it's not needed anyway – the great trigger makes manual firing incredibly efficient.
The new CF20 PRO magazines – More realism & better handling
Planet Eclipse has also upgraded its magazines, presenting a further upgrade with the new CF20 PRO magazines. These are now slightly curved, giving them a more realistic look similar to real AR-15 magazines. While the capacity remains unchanged, the maintenance hatch and refill system have been redesigned and made more user-friendly. An additional, finely polished metal rail inside the magazines ensures even smoother bullet movement in the lower part of the "curve." Another major plus: The new magazines are compatible with both the EMF100 and EMF200! Finally, all EMF players can enjoy the more realistic magazine appearance.
Price & Availability – Is it worth the investment?
With a retail price of €995 for the bare marker or €1,054.90 for the set with the new EMC Adjustable Tank Stock, which was developed specifically for this model, the EMF200 is already in the premium price segment. But we are convinced: This marker is worth the money. Anyone who is hesitant about the price will be convinced at the very latest once they have held the EMF200 in their own hands in the field. This model is not simply the successor to the EMF100, but a consistent further development in all areas – with an even more realistic Real Steel look and feel. There is good news for those who don't have the budget for the EMF200: According to Planet Eclipse, the EMF100 will continue to be produced and thus remains available as a cheaper alternative.
The new Planet Eclipse EMF200 is a game changer in the MagFed sector. With its combination of high-quality workmanship, maximum performance, and realistic appearance, it sets new standards. We were completely impressed by this model, and we're confident that it will quickly establish itself in the scene and maintain its position there for the long term. This was our product review of the Planet Eclipse EMF200 . We hope you enjoyed it and that you're as excited about this model as we are. Have fun with the new EMF200 to all EMF players – see you on the field!
