The Euro Big Game in Mahlwinkel, East Germany, is one of the absolute highlights of the European paintball scene again this year. The four-day event, which is now almost more of a festival than a paintball tournament, has a new, much younger organizer in its ranks this year with Dennis Ulrich. We talked to him in advance and got some information from him about this year's EBG.
There are still about two months until this year's Euro Big Game event in Mahlwinkel. The number of registrations is once again very good and the organizer expects around 2000 players or more. The preparations for the event are also in full swing, despite the current Corona crisis, because the organizers are willing to go through with the EBG in any case. "If we don't receive an express ban from the authorities, the event will definitely take place," we were assured by those responsible shortly before going to press. But even in the event that it cannot take place after all, we are already working diligently on alternative dates and emergency plans.
But first of all what awaits you as a player at the Euro Big Game this year. In 2020, the game scenario again includes four match days full of paintball action. The standard game days Friday to Sunday and the bonus game day on Thursday. In addition, an exciting MagFed side event is planned again.
The organizer has also informed us about some very interesting innovations for the upcoming event. So this year for the first time there will be air stations and also a paint edition directly on the field. This should save the player the long way back to the campsite and the paint issue at the staging area. A useful innovation that will certainly do the flow of the game well. Another highlight will be the new event vehicles. For the first time, players are allowed to bring their own vehicles, as they are already known from OBS and other scenario events, and use them in the game against the other team. This gives the game more dynamic and also creates a lot of new, exciting game situations. As always, the whole thing is rounded off by the usual amenities that the EBG has been offering players for years. The trade show will again be packed with numerous exhibitors this year. There is also the usual stage program with numerous live acts and of course the much-praised catering with the numerous food trucks and local providers has also been carried over from last year. – This was particularly well received by the participants.
We really hope that the EBG 2020 can take place at the planned time at the end of May. Such an event is not even set up that easily. There is not only a lot of logistics behind it, but also about a year of planning and work. A cancellation of the event would be a severe blow for the organizers and the entire paintball scene. So let's all keep our fingers crossed. See you soon in Mahlwinkel…
