Welcome to a new product review. Today we're taking a closer look at the Dye CZR+, a brand-new and very affordable entry-level marker that certainly packs a punch in terms of performance. For around €350, you can currently get a fully-fledged electric pneumatic from Dye that's a lot of fun to use and offers excellent value for money. But read on to find out what the new model can do…
For around five years, the Dye Rize CZR has been one of the best entry-level markers in the €300 to €400 price range. Thanks to the proven e-pneumatic bolt system, which Dye even used in its high-end marker models until 2010, the CZR offers top performance at a low price. However, it was now time for a successor, and so, at the beginning of the year, Dye launched the new and significantly redesigned CZR+. Visually, the CZR+ initially looks like its predecessor, albeit with different color combinations. However, a closer look reveals a multitude of interesting improvements that make this marker, despite its extremely affordable price, a viable alternative for all newcomers. Hardly any other model in the €350 to €400 price range offers as many product features as the Dye CZR+. In terms of performance, the marker is so good that you can start right away in the entry-level leagues of tournament sports. – The Paintball Rookie Open Tournament (Pro-Paintball.de) provided impressive proof of this. Last year, three beginner teams competed there with CZR equipment provided by Dye and easily kept up with the other teams.
Now let's move on to the new Dye CZR+ and the differences and upgrades compared to the previous model. We've already mentioned the fresh color combinations. The Dye Rize CRZ+ will be available in a total of six color variants at launch. Four standard colors for €349.95 and two special models with a more elaborate camo anodizing, each priced at €399.95. This should offer something for everyone visually. Now let's briefly talk about the technical features. The first thing you notice is the barrel. This is solid black on all CZR+ models. The most important innovation, however, is that it's made of plastic. Dye has managed to produce a barrel from the same high-strength polymer as the Dye rotor. The result is an ultra-lightweight, extremely durable barrel that also includes a UL-I receiver. This means that the CZR+ comes standard with a full-featured barrel set, and in this price range – something never before seen!
The included case has a .688 bore, which is standard for Dye. This allows you to shoot virtually any paint on the market without any problems. If you want to further optimize the marker, you can simply purchase additional UL-I cases individually from the accessories section and gradually build your perfect barrel system.
Next up is the ASA. This comes standard with an on/off switch, allowing you to release the air system from the marker without applying pressure. This feature isn't usually found on markers in this price range. Dye has also redesigned the trigger. The new, forward-swept trigger has improved responsiveness and, thanks to the micro-switch release, enables ultra-fast firing sequences. Experienced players can easily fire 10-15 balls per second with this marker using the two-finger trigger, even in semi-auto mode.
The Dye CZR+ also shines in new splendor under the hood. The Fusion Bolt System, already familiar from the previous model, has been further optimized for smoother shooting behavior and even more efficient barrel operation. To simplify maintenance, Dye has also redesigned the marker's back cap. It is now toolless and allows the bolt to be serviced without additional tools. To ensure you don't make a mistake when changing the O-rings, they are color-coded, as with all other Dye markers. This eliminates the risk of confusing the O-ring sizes during maintenance or replacement. Last but not least, the CZR+ has been given the latest Gen. 4 Eye Pipe. This is made of approximately 40% stronger material than the previous model, which means it needs to be replaced less often. Of course, the other proven features of the previous model have also been seamlessly incorporated into the new CZR+. As standard, you have an adjustable clamp feed on the marker and the 45-degree grip that Dye is known for.
The package also includes a generous spare parts set. This includes a 9V battery so you can start playing with the marker right away, an O-ring kit, a tube of Dye grease, a set of Allen keys, and a barrel guard for safety off the field. The Dye CZR+ is delivered in an attractive cardboard box with a foam insert. As you can see, this marker truly leaves nothing to be desired, and all at what we consider an unbeatable price. The best thing to do is to see for yourself and take a look at the product in a shop of your choice. We guarantee you won't be disappointed.
That concludes our product review of the Dye CZR+ today. We wish all Dye fans and gamers, and those who might become Dye fans in the future, lots of fun with the new model.
